Emily Irene VanCamp who initially set out to become a professional dancer became interested in acting when she visited her sister Katie on the set of the film Ladies Room. Her acting career began when she enrolled in classes. She also got appearances on television shows in her native Canada. She was on as a guest on several shows in the series Are You afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a huge career break when he got chosen to play Sam Dolan in WB's horror mystery series Glory Days. While receiving praise from the critics, the series' low ratings ultimately led to it having to be cancelled after just nine episodes. The May 12th, 1986 actress immediately secured a new role in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the principal characters. She was a finalist to win 4 Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
